Change Your Thoughts & Attract What You Want

Do you often find yourself struggling with the gap between what you currently have in your life versus what you want?   Are you struggling with finding that perfect job or building a satisfying career that brings out your passions?  Are you having a hard time determining what path you want to take personally and professionally?  Do you feel frustrated when you look around and see everyone around you appearing to have everything they want while you are struggling to get what you want? Are the pressures of what society perceives to be the "perfect life" not reflective of what you deem to be your "perfect life" and therefore making you feel deflated or confused?

If you can relate to any of these questions then rest assured you are not alone.  I think that many of us reach a point in our lives where we are unsure as to the direction we want to head.  Society seems to paint the perfect picture about what our life plan should look like and many of us struggle with conforming to this.  You don't have to live your life in line with the traditional steps we are led to believe are the norm.   Each one of us is unique with our own life goals and this means we have an opportunity to build our lives in ways that reflect us.  We can't let the pressures that society place on us get in the way of reaching our aspirations.  The only way for us to reach our goals is to stop focusing on what others have and start focusing inwards on what we want to have.

If you feel that you are continually striving to reach your life goals but are never arriving at them, it is time to make a change.  Blaming external influences or others is not going to get you very far. You are responsible for everything around you and it all starts with your thoughts.  Start focusing on positive images and the things you want to attract into your life.  Let go of the negative thoughts about why things aren't the way you want them to be and begin acting like you have the things in your life that make you happy.  Avoid making comments like "I will never find a job that pays me what I deserve", and start thinking about how good you will feel when you are being paid what you deserve. Start thinking about how you can make this happen.  By making simple changes to your thoughts you will subconsciously change your actions to reflect what you want to attract in your life.

Compile a list of all of the things in your life you want to have and begin prioritizing each item. Make a conscious effort to think positively about each thing that is important to you.  Write one action item beside each goal on your list that you can do immediately to make you feel like you are closer to achieving what you want. Once you complete each task add another action item until you finally reach your end goal. Here is an example of what your list could look like.

My Goals

  1. Take a course on entrepreneurship- immediate action: check out courses at local college to determine costs, timing, etc.
  2. Start my own business-immediate action: make an appointment to speak to a specialist that can help me with business planning.
  3. Go on a trip- immediate action: check out prices, locations, etc. and begin a savings plan so eventually I can afford to go.
  4. Buy a new car - immediate action: find a picture of the car I want and put it in a visible space to remind me of my long term goal.
  5. Meet new people- immediate action: look for clubs, committees, sport teams, organizations that interest me that I can become involved with.

By putting your goals and action items on paper you will be putting positive energy towards the things you want to attract in your life. If you constantly focus on the negative you will never get any of the things you want.  In the end, this negativity will only cause you added stress and make it extremely difficult to stay motivated about achieving the things you really want to attract.  You have every opportunity to build the life that makes you happy so focus on what you want, persevere and attract it to your life.
